I went to see the extraordinary film Belfast with a friend this afternoon, and I am profoundly grateful that it was a shared experience – enormously thankful for my empathetic companion. It was much, much too huge a film for me to have wanted to see alone. I could barely speak for a while afterwards.

Exquisite, at times unspeakably beautiful, and also shattering and heartbreaking throughout, this is a must see encounter – something I can’t imagine ever forgetting. I’ll want to say more about Belfast in the future, I’m sure, but for now feel it better simply to sit with it for a space. Hushed. Awed. Wondering. Opened.
