Glenridding dew

The phrase ‘achingly beautiful’ has been on my mind today. Sunlight and morning dew at Glenridding, before many others were out and about, stopped me in my tracks. Ullswater herself, of course, is always calling to photographers from her depths – landscape mirrored in her, upside down, in moments of glassy stillness – but the environment around her asks ‘stop and look at me awhile, too.’ I did. First at a heavy mist curtain over Blencathra; then aware of water’s dripping from the fleece of a dozen sheep; and of steam rising from a café van on the side of the lake; and of dew and lawn, swans and high fell. Sunlit, here, now, all is well.
